Flowers for Suzanne
This past Suzanne Day (if you are not familiar with this day, get on the bandwagon and celebrate me!! :) , Dan took me out to dinner for a little spicy change from the usual flowers he gets me every month. (Yes, I know- he is such a great husband!) Well, this past week, he just couldn't help being so thoughtful, and brought me home my absolute favorite flowers in existence!!! They smelled SO good and looked so pretty on our kitchen window sill. I got home from work the next day and two of them had already bloomed and I was SO excited!
And see that sad little closed bloom on the left with the purple flower? He is being out-shown by his big, brassy siblings! BUT, this morning he was maybe just starting to open up and I am so eager to see if he did when I get home! I love beautiful, smell-good blooms- what a little gift the Lord gave us with those creations!
So, I thought I would share their beauty with you. :) Happy Tuesday!

Suzanne goes to auction!!
Wow! What a night last night- you just wouldn't believe it! Courtney from down the street and I went to an auction that I have been wanting to go to for about six months. Its a weekly auction with mostly dealers and every week, they send an update with all their fantastic European antiques they have to sell. Every week, everything goes- no reserves - I mean: great stuff! Courtney got a FANTASTIC oriental rug for $250!!!:
Well, for the first time, this week, I found something I TRULY wanted! And really, that we need at the house if two of us are going to be working from home (true, I don't know WHAT I will be doing yet, but the Lord is bringing it!) And, yes, the auctioneer's son borrowed his suit from Christopher Reeves' wardrobe in Somewhere In Time. You knew you had seen it somewhere, right?!
SO, I thought of the highest price I would pay in my head and we went to the auction which was so much fun. It took forever for them to get to my desk that I was going to bid on, because it was the hot ticket item of the night! Supposedly, everyone had been inquiring about it and they never get French desks like this, and it is a one of a kind. Well, you KNOW I believed them and just HAD to have this one of a kind-rare find!
Well, it finally comes around to my item............. the bidding is the MOST intense of the night and the auctioneer is saying: 100-do-i-hear-125-is-there-150-man-its-a-steal-200-do-i-hear-250-is-that-275-do-i-hear-batta-batta-swing-and-300-do-i-hear-350-and-do-i-hear-375-is-that-400-do-i-hear-425. Well, this went on and on and I couldn't even understand him and I just held my number real high in the air because I WAS NOT LOSING! My dad told me Never give up (was he referring to auctions?)!! And I believed him and my heart was beating out of my chest and my whole body was shaking and for some reason, I hear a swing batta batta and I just lost track of everything and then I hear a long pause and the auctioneer was saying "I'm just going to pause a minute to let everyone think on this- does anyone want to go higher?" Are you kidding? NO, don't let anyone bid higher!! What's the bid anyway? And he sits and sits and I can't believe it and my heart was on the ceiling and I was trying to control my breathing and then I WON!!!!! YES I WON!!!! The auctioneer announced me the winner and I jumped up and did the hokey pokey dance while jumping in the air (the only thing that came to mind at the moment) and the auctioneer told me congratulations (no one else got that!) and then he told everyone I was being filmed and it was going on YouTube as the happiest a buyer has ever been (oh no!) Everyone else would just win and be silent and frown and then he would go right to the next item. But, the point being - I WON!!!! And this was a huge day for me! My first win ever at an auction and my first try! Thanks Dad! :) AND, I didn't go over my high price that was in my head, although I think I won it for swing batta batta!
SO........ Courtney and I go get Dan's truck, go pick up our items, and Dan helps me bring it in the house. Zeus loved it the moment he saw it, and wanted to be part of the moving fun! Dan was so patient in helping me move it in at 11pm, but boy, it was well worth the effort!

So, here it is complete with beautiful old original keys and everything!
And I won it! If you ever have a chance to go to an auction, go! And, never give up! :)

GARAGE SALE DELUXE!
So, Saturday, we had our much planned garage sale. As I said in a previous post, I had gotten a bunch of people on the block to commit to doing a sale too so that we could draw in more shoppers! Well, it turned out, it was only me and Dan, but we had a lot of our fun neighbor friends come and help out, and even bring a few things to sell: like this American Eagle holding Osama Bin Ladin in his claws! Kelly (down the street) really liked this one:
Here I am with our first customer who bought two towels for $1 - what a deal! I asked him if he had a girlfriend and he said he had had one for 16 years. So, naturally I asked why they weren't married, and he said- she already was - to someone else!!! WOW! Interesting folks come to garage sales :)
And of course, what garage sale would be complete without Meuf Te' and Vern? Vern kept pushing his ball under the fence so that people would throw it to him and Meuf Te' would shove her head under the pickets so that people would pet her! Oh, our children! But how could you resist such cute faces?!
We had alot of neighbors come down to hang out and help and Dan cooked breakfast tacos. Courtney and David tried to steal Meuf Te' but we will never part with her!!! And David picked up a book from Kelly's stash about what to do in difficult situations like when you are in the path of gunfire! Ok, yes, I had alot of clothes to sell- some dating back from 1999!
Right when we were finishing up, the skies broke loose and it started pouring on us. Luckily, all of our neighbors rushed over to help us get all the leftovers in, but in the end, we ended up with $220! SUCCESS!

Dan speaks at Elm Creek Career Day!
Yes he did! Dan came to my school today (that I will no longer be at in 3 weeks:( and spoke at Career Day. He was FOR SURE the best speaker and the kids LOVED him! They were trying to figure out how to get their parents to buy spray foam- what a salesman... Watch the video of his sales pitch and see how he explains it all to the 5th graders.
He even incorporated Math, Science, and Reading and made sure the kids knew how important they are- can't get much better than that!
Stay tuned for our garage sale this weekend. I got a bunch of people on our block to participate, so it should be pretty fun!

Yardwork
So, today Dan decided the yard needed some work. I got up and went to Junior League and Dan got up and got started on the yard! So, when I got home, here is what I found:
He raked out all the flower beds, put mulch in them, and pulled all the weeds. He was doing SUCH a good job, that I got him some lunch:
and of course, Meuf Te' had to have some! (Vern's not allowed in the front yard, because he likes to lay specifically in Dan's flower beds...)
And then I came back MUCH later to find Dan VERY sunburned and the yard looking so perfect! If it looks like I have a swimsuit on, oops- I do! I couldn't mess up Dan's work by helping - I had to go to the pool and stay out of his way!
I'm so proud of Dan for doing such a good job! :)

Meyer's Wedding
We went to such a fun wedding this weekend North of Austin around the Georgetown area.
Dan was in it and able to play golf for two days and I had fun dressing up, as usual!
Dan's parents got to come, so it was nice spending time with them, and there were lots of old college friends that we hadn't seen in a while...
Congratulations Haley and Ryan- what a memorable weekend :)
