Appalachian Trail Hike

So, I finally did it! And at three months pregnant, I am pretty proud of myself. It was actually a really great time. The first night, we didn't get there till dark and we hiked a mile and a half uphill to get to where we were setting up our tent. The second day, we hiked 11 miles and it was HARD- mostly uphill over SO MANY rocks! But, we had a reward of a shelter to sleep in that night, although I made Dan set up our tent because there were mice in the shelter. I did NOT want to get out of my sleeping bag in the morning because it got down in the 40's during the night. But, the last day, we hiked 5 miles and it was all downhill under the trees in a cool, mythical-like forest. That was definitely my favorite day! To view all the pictures, you can see the album on facebook.

The trail goes through alot of mystical-like forests. I loved that, except when it was hiking straight up the mountain, which was most of the time!

The morning after our first night camping out

We had to find our own water and put iodine in it:

See what I mean about going over rocks and all sorts of other obstacles...

We finally finished our 3-day hike over 17 miles. What a great accomplishment for me, but a definite re-kindling of longing to be back out in the wilderness for Dan. He's already planning our future family vacations there!

Port Aransas- Biase Vacation

I am a little late getting these pictures on here, but a few weeks ago, we went to Port Aransas/Mustang Island with Dan's family and Dan's sister, Dena's in-laws. It is becoming our fun annual trip and a nice, relaxing long weekend!

Here is our huge tent that we set up under all day and laid by the beach with. Very relaxing!

Here is Dan getting buried in the sand and our little nephew, Vincent jumping on him, but first, I had to give a little encouragement :)

And here is Dan playing with Vincent. He calls him animal and they have so much fun together! What a great weekend! When I get some more pics of the family, I will post.
