Drawer Labels

It has been bothering me that June's cute little drawers in her armoire were not super organized. So, sans label maker, I took inspiration from my crafty, creative sister-in-law and created some!
Then I nailed them into the drawers and they are just my proudest achievement at the moment! I think they turned out really nice!

I used my scrapbook scissors and spent some ridiculous amounts of time cutting the pieces just right. But everyone says that you don't have time after the baby comes, so I thought I should take advantage. I am sure that I will need to change my labels up once I know more what she needs, but these are based on what I have right now. Ah, organization at its best....

Seattle :)

We wanted to go somewhere before June was born... Dan has always wanted to go to Seattle, so, Seattle it is!

We flew in Thursday night and stayed at a cute little boutique hotel right in the middle of downtown. We took the metro there from the airport and had to wander around some VERY steep streets in the freezing cold, but finally found it and went out for dinner. It is two hours earlier there, so we had plenty of time!

The first day, we did some fun walking tours from this guide book I brought and toured downtown Seattle.

We went to this excellent doughnut place called Top Pot Doughnuts (a Seattle staple) for breakfast that some friends recommended and tried to get warm.
...and then continued on up to Queen Anne Hill, which had some fabulous views and amazing houses!

The last day, we went to Pike's Place Market where they throw the fish (Dan's favorite) and went to the first Starbucks ever!

Then, on to Pioneer Square (my favorite), which is the oldest part of Seattle. We went on this amazing tour of the underground of Seattle. Seattle burned in 1888 and they built it one level up because of drainage issues.

All in all, a great trip! FREEZING, but always fun to explore new cities!

June's room and...Christmas!

So, we are down to the final 16 days till Christmas. The most wonderful time of the year! I couldn't resist putting a picture of our Christmas tree and stockings on here. Dan did such a good job with the lights (I think we are going to have to throw the tree away with the lights this year!) and sawing off the bottom of the tree (it was too big!). Notice Meuf Te' at the bottom waiting for the fire to die down so she can eat a piece of charred wood- her favorite! Next year, we will have one more stocking to add!

Dan just finished painting June's room last week. Don't you love the coral!?!? Our colorist is FANTASTIC! Mom came in town last wednesday through friday to help me with decorating and picking out bedding and just running alot of errands. We had a lot of fun and got ALOT done!

The bedding will be white; I just haven't gotten that yet...

Below is a picture of my new chair we got for when June gets here. I plan on spending some sleepless nights here, I am sure. It was worth every penny, because it is the most comfortable chair I have ever sat in. Two other girls on my block have the same chair in their baby rooms!

After mom left, I worked on putting the pictures in the frames. About four years ago when I lived in Chicago, I was walking Zeus one day and came across these books a lady had left outside that had a sign that said "help yourself!" So, i did and have been saving this Vogue picture book ever since to use on something like this. It is all Vogue covers from the 1910's and 1920's and I just LOVE them! So, 10 of them are on the wall by my chair (well minus one because I need another frame) and we are putting another three over by her crib. They are so cute and the frames go perfectly with the room!

So, there you have it! I had to leave one last picture of our dear little crib that Dan's parents got for us. The room's not done yet, but its getting there pretty quickly. We are getting super excited and 10 weeks doesn't sound like that far away!

Thanksgiving and only 10 more weeks to go!

Ok, so the 10 weeks starts wednesday, but I figured I would add that in there because that is SOON! Although, not really soon since we have been waiting for 7 1/2 months!! I will post pretty soon with pictures of what we have done with June's room. It's coming along very nicely and we are having so much fun working on it!

But for now, Thanksgiving! We had a great time with my family at Gunstream and with Dan's family in Dallas, and even got to stop and see KK and Ryan in Sulphur Springs on the way. KK and I are due one day apart, although she is having a c-section on February 11th, so will get to have hers before me. But we are so excited to be pregnant together and have little ones the same exact age! She doesn't know what she is having yet, but I am sure June will love to be friends with either their little girl or boy! So, here we are with our tummies. Growing fast!

And then we went on to Gunstream in East Texas with the large Haughton (mom's side) extended family. We, of course, had to try the dreaded Christmas card picture. Seriously, why can boys not stand still for longer than 11 seconds!? None of them turned out too well, but this one is ok...

We spent most of the time indoors by the fire with all the family just catching up and telling stories. Always so fun!

And then Dan and I were off to Dallas for Thanksgiving dinner with his family. (I don't have any pictures!) But, it was an amazingly wonderful meal!! We had a wonderful time there with his little nephew (I can't believe we are going to have someone that small to take care of, well much smaller because he is almost two now!) And then on Saturday, we went to the Tech game in the new Cowboy's Stadium. We had 35 seats together- my large family and Dan's family- lots of people! It was such a fun time and the stadium is amazing!!!!

So, that was our fun Thanksgiving. Plenty of family and food. NOW, only 10 weeks till little June gets here. Lots of preparation to do!

June's room

So, I was going to wait and post all of this at once, but it is taking a little longer than expected, so I am going to just put up what we have so far. As I said, Sunday, we brought home a LOT of items for little June's room. One was this HUGE armoire that I had gotten for my birthday and Mom and Mimi drove to Dallas for us to haul to San Antonio.
So, we got it here and Dan and Kelly (down the street) unloaded it all by themselves- so strong! :) And we put all her cute tiny clothes in it along with her perfect little Uggs!
Then, we had to get some chips on it fixed, so currently the doors are not on it because the chips are being bonded with glue. We should be able to put the doors on tomorrow. We put the crib together which looks SO cute, but we realized we did a few things wrong, so once they are fixed, I will put those pictures on here...

Meanwhile, we picked out a paint color- lavender! And Dan did SUCH a good job of painting.
Sounds cute, but no.... It does not look good at all with the trim color and the trim is throughout the house. So...... we are having the colorist who originally did our house in period colors come and assess the room on Monday. I have some ideas of what I want this time around, but we will see what he says. He did such a great job with the colors in the house, I will definitely trust his advice and just go with it!

Dallas Baby Shower

Well, what a wonderful shower I got to have this weekend!

of=50,332,442.jpg

Dan's sisters and mom did the CUTEST decorations. People could just not stop commenting on how creative everything was.

And Aunt Elizabeth and Aunt Ann made the most wonderful food ever! They even had a coffee bar with Aunt Ann as the barista frothing up milk and spicing the lattes.

I got so many wonderful presents and got to hear wonderful advice from other mothers about being a mom.

There were alot of my family members there and some fun friends too. And of course, how could Meuf Te' not come?!

All in all, I could not have asked for a more personal, well-planned shower with close friends and family. And then, when it was all over, Dan and has dad and his friend, Kelly spent quite a few hours getting everything loaded into the truck for a Beverly Hillbilly Drive home. I wish I had a picture of that, but you will just have to imagine!

Ryan Meyer's 30th birthday weekend in New Braunfels

This past weekend, we went to this cute cabin on the river in New Braunfels for one of Dan's friends from college's 30th birthday. We had a great time catching up with college friends and just relaxing in such great scenery.

Dan even split some logs for the campfire. He's so strong ;)

We had lots of fun and even went to Wurstfest Saturday night. Dan and I were extremely un-festive and forgot to bring costumes, but we still had fun!
